George's Music in Berwyn offers private, in-person music lessons for all ages in guitar, piano, drums, bass, voice, and ukulele.

Berwyn is our Main Line store, and the teachers here came up on the Main Line themselves. Candace Creamer started out teaching at Troubadour Music in Wayne and has taught piano at Haverford Friends and The Baldwin School. When you come in off Route 252, you're meeting people who have been playing and teaching in these towns for decades.

The Berwyn store holds 4.9 stars across 200+ Google reviews. Families drive in from Devon, Paoli, Wayne, Malvern, Chesterbrook, and Exton.

Meet the Berwyn Teachers

Eight teachers work out of the Berwyn store.

Guitar, Bass & Ukulele

Giulio Kitao

Guitar, Ukulele

Giulio holds a bachelor's degree in music performance from Oberlin College and has spent thirty years on the local scene. He currently plays in three gigging bands.Hard rock, metal, and classic rock are his territory, and he builds each lesson around what the student is actually aiming for.

Andrew Lynch

Guitar, Ukulele

Andrew starts with the songs a student wants to play, then works backward into the technique and theory underneath them. He teaches from tabs and rhythm notation, and will teach sight reading if that's what you'd rather learn. Blues, funk, country, rock, and pop are where he's most at home. He's been playing and writing his own music locally for fifteen years.

Phil Marsili

Guitar

Phil teaches guitar at Berwyn, and also teaches at George's Music in Spring City. His background in guitar is diverse and he specializes in lead guitar and shred technique. Phil has led our RockStars band program in Berwyn and enjoys helping kids and adults become the best guitarist they can be and go from practicing alone to getting on stage.

Voice

Michelle Creamer

Voice

Michelle has worked as a professional singer for over twenty years, fronting everything from rock and R&B to jazz, musical theater, and opera. She came through Temple's jazz and commercial music program, and says the real education came from getting out and performing. Her lessons cover vocal technique, performance strategy, and being comfortable with your own voice.

Piano

Candace Creamer

Piano, Guitar, Bass, Ukulele

Candace has been teaching for more than twenty-six years, starting at Troubadour in Wayne and going on to Haverford Friends and The Baldwin School. She studied jazz and commercial music at Temple, played piano and lead guitar in wedding and cover bands for two decades, and performed worship for years at Church of the Savior and Church of the Good Samaritan. Her first job with a new student is finding out what makes them want to play. Classical, rock, jazz, pop: she's played it all and teaches it all.

Ray Thompson

Piano

Ray teaches piano at the Berwyn store.

Drums, Percussion, Woodwind & Brass

Albert Blackson

Drums, Saxophone, Trumpet, Clarinet

Albert started on organ in fourth grade and moved to percussion at thirteen, studying at the Settlement Music School and later at the Clef Club. He played in jazz ensembles and big bands at Community College of Philadelphia and currently drums with the Retrogrove Band. His own teacher once took his sticks away until he could say a rhythm out loud. Albert doesn't do that to students, but he does teach them to hear a rhythm before they play it.In addition to percussion he has a diverse teaching background that includes saxophone, trumpet and clarinet.

Mike Whalen

Drums, Percussion

Mike has fifty years of combo band playing behind him and studio work ranging from single songs to full band records and radio jingles. He builds each lesson around where the student actually is, and teaches from age six through adults.

How lessons work

Contact us and a lesson coordinator will match you with the right teacher for your instrument and your goals, then set a weekly time for private, one-on-one lessons at the Berwyn store. Want to try it first? Start with a $25 trial lesson. Lessons start as young as 6, though the right starting age depends on the instrument and the student's readiness, and some teachers set their own minimums. Billing is monthly, auto-recurring, with no long-term commitment. Plans change, so there's a 24-hour cancellation policy with makeup lessons available.

Simple monthly pricing

Lessons are private, one-on-one, and billed as a flat monthly rate, starting at $155 per month for a weekly 30-minute lesson and $299 per month for a weekly 60-minute lesson. There's a one-time $29 registration per family. Billing is monthly, auto-recurring, with no long-term commitment. If you'd like to try before enrolling, a $25 trial lesson is an easy way to start.

More than lessons

When you're ready to play alongside other people, the Rock Stars Band Program puts students in a real band: you pick the setlist, rehearse across a season, and finish with a live show. It starts at $399. Separately, our private-lesson students get their own chance to perform: a few times a year we host in-store showcases where a student plays a piece they've prepared with their teacher.
