George's Music in Jacksonville Beach offers private, in-person music lessons for all ages in guitar, piano, drums, bass, voice, and ukulele.

No two teachers here learned music the same way. Paul Butler took a percussion degree at UNF and spent years teaching high school drumlines around Jacksonville. Sage Fravala grew up in a recording studio in Orange Park and still plays the rooms in town. David Dowling has toured and worked in 49 states, Japan and parts of Europe. Reeves Culliton is self-taught and came to teaching from a software career. Whichever route you're on, someone here has walked it.

The Jacksonville Beach store holds 4.9 stars across 2,000+ Google reviews. Students drive up A1A from Ponte Vedra and St. Augustine, down from Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach, and across the Intracoastal from Palm Valley and Nocatee.

Meet the Jacksonville Beach Teachers

Paul Butler, drum teacher at George's Music in Jacksonville Beach, FL

Paul Butler

Drums, Piano

Paul earned a BFA in percussion performance at the University of North Florida, studying under Dr. Andrea Venet, and has taught at George's since 2021. He competed at PASIC with UNF's percussion ensemble and has performed with Michael Burritt. Before that he taught the drumlines at Nease and Pedro Menendez high schools, so he knows the school band world here from the inside. He'll meet a student wherever they are, whether that's a first paradiddle or a performance three weeks out.

Sage Fravala, guitar teacher at George's Music in Jacksonville Beach, FL

Sage Fravala

Guitar, Bass, Voice, Piano, Drums, Ukulele

Sage grew up in a recording studio in Orange Park and now plays in a band called Empty Register, which took second at UNF's Battle of the Bands and has played Jax Punk. Lessons here start from a song you actually want to play rather than a songbook, with melody, harmony and rhythm folded in as they become useful. Theory matters, but it doesn't get taught like math. Thrash to smooth jazz, Sage covers the range.

David Dowling, guitar teacher at George's Music in Jacksonville Beach, FL

David Dowling

Guitar

David started on guitar in 1985, went professional in 1992, and has played and worked in 49 states, Japan and parts of Europe since, including 23 years running audio at Maryland Sound International. Rock and blues are the focus, along with the theory that sits underneath them. Having played in both national touring acts and local cover bands, David teaches from what a working player actually needs on a stage.

Reeves Culliton, guitar teacher at George's Music in Jacksonville Beach, FL

Reeves Culliton

Guitar

Reeves is almost entirely self-taught: three years of piano and one of guitar as a child, then six years of working it out alone. That turns out to be the useful part, because Reeves has hit every wall a self-teaching student hits. Lessons start with what you want out of playing, then head for the songs and techniques that pay off soonest. Coming to teaching from a software career, Reeves runs a lesson as structured or as loose as you need it.

How lessons work

Everything starts with a $25 trial lesson. You come in, meet a teacher matched to the instrument and the music you're after, and play. One-on-one, in person, at the store on 3rd Street. After that, lessons run weekly with the same teacher. Pick 30 minutes or 60, and a time that holds each week. Lessons start as young as 6. The starting age depends on the instrument and the teacher, and some set their own minimums. We run a 24-hour cancellation policy with makeup lessons available. Jacksonville Beach is the Florida store in a five-store lessons program. Same pricing, same policies, same trial.

Simple monthly pricing

Lessons are private, one-on-one, and billed as a flat monthly rate, starting at $155 per month for a weekly 30-minute lesson and $299 per month for a weekly 60-minute lesson. There's a one-time $29 registration per family. Billing is monthly, auto-recurring, with no long-term commitment. If you'd like to try before enrolling, a $25 trial lesson is an easy way to start.

More than lessons

Students here can also join Rock Stars, where you rehearse in a real band with players at your level for about ten weeks and finish with a live show. It starts at $399.

There are in-store showcases every quarter too, where students play a piece they've worked up with their teacher.
