The Alvarez AP66 Artist Parlor pairs a compact, comfortable body with one of the most striking finishes in the Artist Series. Alvarez '66 models are finished with a deep, glass-like shine, and the thin Shadowburst gloss over African Mahogany brings out the full aesthetic of the wood for a warm, premium vibe that matches its tone.

Mahogany-top guitars have a responsive, focused voice with strong mids and exceptional clarity. That makes the AP66 a natural fit for recording, where it sits neatly in a mix, and for live playing, where its midrange punch helps it cut through. The Parlor shape keeps everything close and easy to play, whether you're fingerpicking on the couch or leaning into a vocal performance.

The Artist Series represents Alvarez's commitment to quality and care, with meticulous attention to bracing, voicing and overall construction. Every component — the bi-level Indian Laurel bridge, solid bridge plates and neck blocks — is considered to get the best possible response out of solid-top construction, resulting in impressive projection and balance.

Alvarez selects and grades all of its solid tops independently of its suppliers, and the laminated backs and sides are uniquely constructed with mahogany as the middle layer, with matched inner and outer layers. Woods are seasoned for months — years, in some cases — then given an additional drying stage in thermo-kilns. Alvarez calls this ATR (Advanced Tonal Response): a form of torrefaction using oxygen-controlled vacuum curing to remove extra moisture and volatiles like saps and sugars. The result is wood that's more stable in dry or humid climates and a guitar that sounds quicker, more open and more resonant from day one.

Studio And Stage Ready

The mahogany top gives the AP66 a responsive, focused voice with strong mids and exceptional clarity. That combination records beautifully and holds its own in a live mix.

Mature Tone From Day One

Alvarez's ATR process advances the natural post-build drying that normally takes years, so the top is quicker, more resonant and more open right away. You get clearer note separation and a more complex voicing from the first time you play it.

More Stable In Any Climate

ATR-treated wood holds up far better when exposed to dry or humid conditions, reducing how much the guitar moves in its critical first couple of years. It's peace of mind for players who travel or live somewhere with real seasons.

Solid African Mahogany Top

A hand-graded solid mahogany top delivers a focused, woody tone with strong mids and clarity. Alvarez grades every solid top independently of its suppliers.

Thin Shadowburst Gloss

A deep, glass-like Shadowburst gloss on the mahogany top shows off the grain for a warm, premium look. The back and sides are finished in natural semi-gloss.

Mahogany Back And Sides

African Mahogany back and sides are uniquely constructed with mahogany as the middle layer, and the inner and outer layers are always matched.

Bi-Level Indian Laurel Bridge

The bi-level bridge design, along with solid bridge plates and neck blocks, is chosen to pull the best possible response from solid-top construction.

FS6 Bracing

Artist Series bracing and voicing are designed to strike the right balance between strength and vibration for projection and balance.

African Mahogany Neck

The mahogany neck carries an Indian Laurel fingerboard with MOP and acrylic inlays, and meets the body at the 12th fret with 18 frets total.
