The BOSS EX-4 Effects Expander is made for players who treat pedalboard space as precious. In one compact stompbox, it drops 120 premium BOSS effects into your existing rig — overdrive and distortion, modulation, delay, reverb, bass-tuned effects, and BOSS originals like Slow Gear and Slicer.
You can run up to four effects simultaneously, including multiple instances of the same effect, and build them into series, parallel, or wet/dry configurations. Utility blocks — foot volume, two noise suppressors, send/return, and divider/mixer — can be placed anywhere in the chain, with an independent global EQ for overall shaping. The onboard effect loop lets you bring outboard pedals into the chain and move them wherever they sound best.
Sound creation is quick thanks to Gear Suite: every effect type comes loaded with multiple pre-made settings with professionally tuned parameters, called up with the turn of a knob and editable to taste. The 2.4-inch full color display lays out the whole signal chain, and dedicated FX buttons — color-matched to the effects on screen — toggle blocks with a press or open editing with a long press.
On stage, rugged dual-function footswitches with new color LED rings keep current assignments visible at a glance, whether you're using Manual mode for stompbox-style control or Memory mode for presets. Four audio jacks cover mono or stereo setups (two can serve as the effect loop), and there's room for two footswitches or an expression pedal plus space-saving TRS MIDI I/O for integration with other MIDI pedals, switchers, and clock sources.
