Since 1961, the Casino has been Epiphone's best-selling archtop and a rock 'n' roll standard. It was one of several new thinline archtops designed and produced at the company's adopted factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan — the plant it shared with one-time competitor and new partner, Gibson.
The list of players who put the Casino on the map is hard to beat. Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones used one to record the demo for "Satisfaction" at Chess Records in Chicago. Howlin' Wolf took a Casino on his first UK tour, appearing on Thank Your Lucky Stars. Shortly afterward, John Lennon and George Harrison bought Casinos for The Beatles' 1966 world tour.
The recipe hasn't changed much, and that's the point: a layered maple archtop body, a pair of Dogear Epiphone P-90 PRO pickups, and a mahogany neck with a SlimTaper 60s C profile, 12"-radius laurel fingerboard and 22 medium jumbo frets. The LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and Diamond Trapeze tailpiece, Graph Tech nut and Epiphone Vintage Deluxe tuners keep everything stable and easy to live with.
Vintage-correct touches round it out — the sloped Dove Wing headstock, 3-ply Casino pickguard with metal E, gold Top Hat knobs with silver inserts, cream switch tip and nickel hardware. A gig bag is included.
