Since 1961, the Casino has been Epiphone's best-selling archtop and a rock 'n' roll standard. It was introduced as one of several new thinline archtops designed and produced at the company's adopted new factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan — a building it shared with one-time competitor and new partner, Gibson.
The players who took to it wrote the guitar's reputation. Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones recorded the demo for "Satisfaction" on a Casino at Chess Records in Chicago. Howlin' Wolf carried one on his first tour of the UK, appearing on Thank Your Lucky Stars. Shortly afterward, John Lennon and George Harrison bought Casinos for the Beatles' 1966 world tour.
This Vintage Sunburst version sticks to what made the original work: a fully hollow 5-ply layered maple body, two Epiphone P-90 PRO dogear pickups with individual volume and tone controls, and a mahogany neck carved to a SlimTaper 60s C profile with a laurel fingerboard and 22 medium jumbo frets. A LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge, Diamond Trapeze tailpiece, and Epiphone Vintage Deluxe tuners finish it off, and a gig bag is included.
