The Epiphone Riviera — one of Epiphone's original and most enduring designs — first appeared in the early 1960s and its semi-hollow voice has been a favorite of players across genres and generations, from blues greats Robben Ford and Otis Rush to Lou Reed of the Velvet Underground and Nick Valensi of The Strokes. All of them found the same thing: the legendary ES body shape makes great tone with just about any pickup configuration.
This Riviera is built from a layered maple top, back, and sides with a maple centerblock, giving it the semi-hollow warmth and air the model is known for while keeping things focused when you turn up. The glued-in mahogany neck has a Rounded C profile and a laurel fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets, trapezoid inlays, a 12" radius, and a 24.72" scale length, topped off with a Graph Tech NuBone nut.
A pair of Epiphone PRO Mini Humbuckers handles the tone, wired to 2 Volume and 2 Tone controls with CTS potentiometers and a 3-way toggle. A LockTone Tune-O-Matic adjustable bridge and the distinctive Frequensator tailpiece keep everything anchored, with nickel hardware, Epiphone Vintage Deluxe metal button tuners, and the 3-layer Riviera pickguard with its classic metal "E" completing the vintage picture.
