The JHS 3 Series Pherb takes two effects you'd normally keep separate and locks them together: a dark, lo-fi reverb feeding a vintage-style four-stage phaser. The reverb isn't chasing a conventional room, hall or plate sound — it has a chorused, washed-out character, and as decays stretch out a subtle pulse begins to emerge. The phaser sweeps without feedback and sits its notches higher up, so the reverb's low-mid content stays present underneath the modulation.

Three controls do all the work. Mix sets the level of the combined reverb and phaser effect, Speed controls the phase sweep from a glacial 0.05Hz up to 5Hz, and Length adjusts reverb decay and pre-delay together — from short 241 ms atmospheric accents out to a 49.83 second tail. Turn Speed fully counterclockwise in normal mode and the phaser disengages completely, leaving the reverb running on its own.

Flip the BREAK toggle and the Pherb gets destructive. BREAK introduces asymmetric bitcrushing and analog-style clipping to your guitar signal before it reaches the reverb and phaser, turning riffs into fractured, distorted textures. In BREAK mode the phaser stays engaged even with Speed all the way down. Standard 1/4" jacks keep it pedalboard-friendly, and the combined effect can be placed at different points in your signal chain.

Built for ambient, shoegaze and experimental players, the Pherb also carries a bit of company trivia: it went from concept to approved prototype in just 35 hours, making it the fastest-developed pedal in JHS history.

  • Combined dark lo-fi reverb and four-stage vintage-style phaser
  • Fixed reverb-into-phaser signal order — one combined effect, not two switchable pedals
  • Mix, Speed and Length controls plus a BREAK toggle
  • BREAK adds asymmetric bitcrushing and analog-style clipping ahead of the effects
  • Phaser speed 0.05Hz–5Hz; reverb decay 241 ms–49.83 seconds
  • Analog circuit with true bypass
  • 9V DC center-negative power only — do not exceed 9V

Instant Ambient Atmosphere

Dark, chorused reverb with decays up to 49.83 seconds lets you build long, drifting layers that keep moving on their own. Longer settings develop a subtle pulse that gives ambient parts life without extra pedals.

Two Effects, Three Knobs

Mix, Speed and Length cover reverb level, phase sweep, decay and pre-delay, so you can dial in complex textures fast. Rolling Speed fully counterclockwise in normal mode drops the phaser out and leaves you with just the reverb.

Lo-Fi Destruction On Demand

The BREAK toggle adds asymmetric bitcrushing and analog-style clipping before the effects, smearing chords and riffs into fractured, distorted textures. It's a second personality for shoegaze and experimental playing, right on the pedal.

Dark Chorused Reverb

Rather than a conventional room, hall or plate, the reverb has a dark, chorused character, with longer decays developing a subtle pulse.

Four-Stage Vintage Phaser

The phaser uses a vintage-style sweep with no feedback and higher-positioned notches, preserving more of the reverb's low-mid content beneath the modulation.

Fixed Signal Order

Reverb runs into phaser in a fixed order so the two work as a single combined effect instead of two independently switchable pedals.

Mix, Speed And Length

Mix sets the level of the combined effect, Speed controls the phase sweep, and Length adjusts reverb decay and pre-delay together.

BREAK Toggle

BREAK introduces asymmetric bitcrushing and analog-style clipping to the incoming signal before the reverb and phaser, and keeps the phaser engaged even with Speed fully counterclockwise.

Wide Sweep And Decay Ranges

Phaser speed spans 0.05Hz to 5Hz, while reverb decay runs from 241 ms out to 49.83 seconds.
