Tape-style saturation adds warmth, compression and harmonic complexity to a guitar signal, and the Strymon La Brea brings that response to a dedicated all-analog drive pedal. Inspired by the Saturation voice in Strymon's Deco, La Brea uses multi-stage analog circuitry to move from subtle harmonic thickening and compression to pushed breakup and full fuzz, with no digital processing in the signal path.

The Tape Saturation control covers a wide range, and the Gain switch sets how much of that range is on tap — so the same core circuit handles low-gain warmth, driven rhythm sounds and saturated lead tones. That makes La Brea equally useful as a subtle signal enhancer, a primary drive pedal, or a more aggressive source of textured analog gain.

The Shift switch offers two voicing options: a dedicated high-frequency boost, or a high-frequency boost with added midrange. These can add bite to darker rigs, reinforce the body of lead lines, or help saturated parts stay articulate in a mix. The variable Dry path blends your unaffected signal back in phase with the pedal's output, retaining clarity and punch as saturation increases.

La Brea operates internally at 24V to support ample headroom and a wide gain range, while accepting standard 9V DC center-negative power. True-bypass switching preserves the direct signal when the effect is disengaged, and mono 1/4" input and output connections support straightforward integration with common guitar rigs.

  • All-analog tape saturation drive inspired by Strymon's Deco
  • Tape Saturation and Dry controls, plus Gain and Shift switches
  • Covers mild breakup through full fuzz
  • Variable in-phase Dry blend keeps definition at high gain
  • 24V internal operation, runs on 9V DC center-negative (500mA min)
  • True bypass with mono 1/4" input and output

One Pedal, Many Gain Voices

With the Gain switch resetting the range of the Tape Saturation control, La Brea works as a subtle signal enhancer, a primary drive pedal or an aggressive fuzz-leaning texture. You can cover rhythm parts, lead tones and layered textures from the same circuit.

Stays Clear When Pushed

The variable Dry path adds your unaffected signal back in phase with the pedal's output, so notes keep their definition and punch as saturation climbs. Saturated parts stay articulate instead of getting buried in a mix.

Tape Warmth Without Digital

Multi-stage analog circuitry delivers the compression, density and harmonic complexity associated with tape-style saturation, with no digital processing in the signal path.

Deco-Inspired Saturation

La Brea is built around the Saturation voice from Strymon's Deco, reworked into a dedicated analog drive pedal.

Multi-Stage Analog Circuit

Multiple analog gain stages take the pedal from mild harmonic thickening all the way to full fuzz.

Tape Saturation Control

The main Tape Saturation knob sets how hard the circuit is driven, retaining tape-style compression and density throughout its range.

Gain Range Switch

The Gain switch changes the range covered by the Tape Saturation control for lower-gain warmth, driven rhythm or saturated lead sounds.

Two-Position Shift Switch

Shift selects either a dedicated high-frequency boost or a high-frequency boost with added midrange, adding bite or reinforcing lead-line body.

Variable In-Phase Dry

A dedicated Dry control blends the unaffected signal back in phase with the wet output to preserve clarity and punch.
